Qualifications & Achievements
Will Amos is committed to supporting clients whose objective is to enable the achievement of rapid economic decarbonization, water security, and biodiversity protection. Pivot Strategic is the only GR firm in Canada dedicated to this approach.
Will Amos’ advisory services draw upon deep legal and political experience. Between 2007-2015, Amos practiced environmental law as a litigator with Ecojustice, and from 2015-2021, he served as a Member of Parliament (Liberal, Pontiac, QC) during the Trudeau administration.
From 2019-2021, while he served in the House of Commons, Amos was appointed by Prime Minister Trudeau to serve as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) - a political leadership role representing the Government of Canada on cleantech & industrial decarbonization, advanced technology industries (AI, quantum, semiconductors), postsecondary institutions, and science & research.
Amos has proven diplomatic skills, representing Canada on the international stage at the United Nations (regarding the 2030 SDGs) and co-chairing the Canada-Mexico Parliamentary Group during the NAFTA 1.0 renegotiation.
For over 25 years, as MP, lawyer and policy advisor, Amos has fine-tuned his advocacy skills while mastering the art of aligning stakeholder and government interests. Whether representing rural and urban constituents in Parliament, litigating court cases to protect the environment, or influencing Canada’s net-zero industrial transition at ISED, Will Amos has established a solid track record of public service.
Amos also has extensive media, campaign, and issue management experience, with strong contact networks.
When Amos practiced law, he was called to the bar in Ontario and Quebec, and litigated at all levels of Canadian courts on matters related to energy, climate, water, and nature protection. On three separate occasions, he appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of clients while working for Canada’s largest environmental law charity (Ecojustice). After practicing in the private sector (Heenan Blaikie) and at Canada’s telecom and broadcast regulator (CRTC), Amos joined the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law as the Director of the Environmental Law Clinic.
Earlier in his career, under the PM Chrétien administration, Will Amos advised Canada's federal Environment Minister on biodiversity and water policy, and served as an opinion polling researcher in the Prime Minister's Office on national unity issues. Amos completed an undergraduate degree in Arts and Science at McMaster University and a Master’s in Political Science at UBC. Amos went to McGill for his law degrees (common and civil). Amos is fluent in Spanish and French, and has lived and studied in Mexico, France and Australia.
